Leather Caps

Just as the style of caps and hats have changed throughout history, so has the material with which it is made. Felt and silk hats were popular for many years for formal occasions. Now, it seems leather caps are as much a fashion statement in some circles as top hat used to when worn with a white tie and tailcoat.

Today, wearing a leather cap or hat is often regarded as a status symbol. It is sometimes a very costly material and not just for those watching their pennies. Leather caps and leather hats will top off the most fashionable of outfits or be worn in every day situations.

Headwear made of lamb skin, pig skin, cow hide, and other leathers can be found worn by pilots, bankers, executives, motorcycle enthusiasts and more. You even find it in the popular baseball cap styles that are worn all over America on a daily basis.

One of the most popular leather cap styles is the newsboy. It is reminiscent of the headwear worn by the newsboys who used to stand on street corners in the 1930's and 1940's, hawking their wares and getting attention in order to sell newspapers.  Other styles leather cap styles include the ivy, spitfire, beret, apple, and big apple.

So, the next time you are looking for something new think outside of tradition and think about the variety of materials and styles you can choose from.
