Newsboy Cap Gets Handsome Redesign

Your traditional newsboy cap or Big Apple cap is usually round. Jonathan Richards’ new Gatsby delivers a more oblong shape. It is 11 inches from front to back but only 9.5 inches from ear to ear. It even sports a 6-panel outer shell compared with a more traditional 8-panel design. The overall results are impressive to look at and very comfortable to wear. That doesn’t even touch the overall quality of the cap. The outer shell is made from 100% wool and is authentic Donegal Tweed. The thick wool outer shell also features a layer of insulation between it and the inner lining to help keep you extra warm. The cap’s bill has a snap to help it keep its shape. The cloth sweatband provides extra comfort. If all that weren’t enough, there is one additional feature some customers are very particular about. A select group of our customers, especially those who wore ivy and Big Apple caps in the 1970s, really want what we can only think of to call “foldover.” It is a bunching of the outer shell that folds over and flops out to the sides where the bill meets the cap.
