Blues Brothers Hats in Sweet Home Chicago

“It’s 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark…and we’re wearing sunglasses.”

What Elwood Blues fails to mention was that they were wearing awesome hats, too.

Everybody needs somebody to love. Preferable in a cool hat like Jake and Elwood wore in the Blues Brothers flick starring John Belushi and Dan Aykryod. Fans of the movie will note that their hats didn't have feathers. Not to worry. Ours are removeable.

How we failed to mention the greatest comedy in Chicago history up to this point is beyond me. “The Blues Brothers” is still legend in these parts and a favorite of many people the world over.

What’s it about? That’s easy.

Jake and Elwood Blues are on a mission from God. Even though Jake is fresh out of prison, they must raise $5,000 to save an orphanage by reuniting their band to put on the greatest R&B concert in the history of the universe, while enlisting the help of everyone from Cab Calloway to Ray Charles while also eluding neo Nazis, enraged rednecks and the entire Illinois law enforcement community. Aretha Franklin, Carrie Fisher, Steven Spielberg and dozens of other famous people make killer cameo appreances in more than 2 hours of non-stop laughs.

John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd are the stars of the movie, hot off their success on Saturday Night Live.

Naturally, as a Chicago hat store, we must have hats like the ones the brothers Blues wore. Ours are by Capas and called the Blues Brothers Hat. We like to keep things easy for everyone. At $65, it is an affordable short, snap brim fedora in black and several other colors for those who like the style but want to wear it with different wardrobes.

Personally, Cab Calloway is one of my big music heroes. I don’t see how anyone can’t love the larger-than-life band leader who gave us “Minnie the Moocher” and had to be the heppest cat alive at one point. Fellow zoot suiters like me will also love our Stetson Dexter with a brim to match our oversized shoulder pads. But we’ll save the hats that really send you for a different post.
