The Joy of Hats
The most fun part about working in a hat shop is helping the customers. You can watch people trying on not just new hats but new personalities. The laughter is infectious when groups of friends or couples start experimenting with the different styles of hats and caps. They goof off with hats that run counter to their image and get deadly serious about working out the final nuance of the┬ábrim or crown of the hat they take home. Many people visit from far away to see, feel and try on dozens of hats just to select the perfect one. Others bring full suits and costumes to find the perfect hat to match.┬á Some folks clearly cut out a few hours from their schedule just to have fun exploring the possibilities, and for many it is the highlight of their day…if not week.
